Palliative Care

Coping with Illness is Difficult. We Can Help.

St. Vincent Rehabilitation & Nursing Center offers palliative care for individuals with serious long-term illnesses, and who are no longer seeking curative treatment.

Our compassionate staff is dedicated to promoting the dignity of life and reducing pain, stress and discomfort. We honor the individual’s wishes and work with their families to ensure the best possible care plan.

What is Palliative Care?

Palliative care is sometimes seen as interchangeable with hospice care, which is not really the case. Palliative care can be appropriate for people at any time during an illness, not just when they may be near the end of life.

Palliative care is best suited in cases of chronic disease or illness, in situations where symptoms can be managed or alleviated, allowing individuals to live their lives to the fullest.

Choosing Our Setting

Palliative care is specialized care that does not necessarily replace the primary treatment for an illness but can work with that treatment to prevent or ease pain and discomfort. Throughout these difficult times, our staff is dedicated to working with patients and families to improve their overall quality of life.

Palliative care at St. Vincent is provided by highly trained physicians, nurses, social workers and other professionals. Each care plan is carefully designed to follow the patient’s wishes.

Resident safety, personalized attention and compassionate care is the foundation of high-quality healthcare at St. Vincent.

We are recipients of the 2018 & 2019 Eli Pick Facility Leadership Award and the 2019 AHCA National Bronze Award for Commitment to Quality (2019), both national honors for health, safety and quality excellence. We’re also proud of our 97 percent resident satisfaction level, which is well above industry standards.

When you enter the front door at St. Vincent, you become family – and part of a community that opens up many new opportunities for you.

Step into our lobby and you’ll meet staff ready to support your every need. Nearby is the activities room, where you’ll find endless enrichment, including regular entertainment, games, music and so much more.

Walk down into our residences and you’ll find our 70 spacious resident rooms, 69 of which are private and all a short distance away from a nurse’s station. Our rooms are spread across two floors, with an elevator providing easy access up and down.

We want your room to feel like home, which is why we encourage you to bring your favorite pillows, clothing, electronics, personal care items or even your own furniture. Your walls await decoration, whether it’s precious family photos or your favorite artwork. Your room comes complete with access to Wi-Fi, phone and cable television, so you can continually stay connected with loved ones or simply enjoy your favorite television program. Visitors are always welcome.

There is an abundance of personalized dining options to meet your needs, whether it’s enjoying delicious cuisine in our neighborhood dining areas or restaurant-style dining in our main dining room.

If you seek time to reflect outside, spend time with family or just catch some fresh air, we offer you plenty of outdoor space. Our residents especially love the garden area and koi pond. The view of the White Mountains is breathtaking.
